…Annnd I’m back!

Bec Brown + summer daisies

Well guys. Its been 2 months since I last posted on my beautiful little corner of the internet. Ive had mixed emotions about this blog and what to do next with it. By not focusing on my blog, I have created a huge amount of artwork and also had an adventure to America!
I have decided to use it more like a portfolio of my art, design & photography – instead of a blog that I update 3-4 times a week. This way I can focus hugely on my art.
I dont want to ‘get over’ posting on here and desert this fun world of blogging!
So here is a wee update of what I’ve been upto – snapshots from my iPhone…

Winter Beach NZ + Book USA Summer Fruit Clothing Tulips + Mustard candles Flower Shop + Home Decor Nelson Buildings + Blue sky Bec Brown - selfie

I’ll be sharing a few iPhone snapshots of my holiday to America soon, and also all the art Ive been creating.
If you’d like to keep up to date on a regular bases with my art, I am always adding new images to Instagram & Facebook.

Favourite food places in Los Angeles

Avocado Breakfast, Los Angeles    Favourite Breakfast, Los Angeles Breakfast - Abbot Kinney Breakfass in America

The food is Los Angeles was totally worth photographing and writing home about any chance I got. I wish now that Id thought to take more photos but my tastebuds kept over riding every thought!
A few of my faves…
♥ Starling, Long Beach – A cute, American diner style place for breakfast & lunch. The super duper dessert looking breakfast above is from there!
♥ Ocean Beach Smoothies, San Diego – The biggest yummy breakfasts ever! Also I found a lemon & ginger beer drink which I purely purchased for the packaging – good if you’re getting a cold!
♥ Wabi Sabi Sushi, Venice – If you love Japanese and all things sushi this is the best Ive ever had!
♥ Number 9, Long Beach – fresh, extremely tasty Vietnamese food. Ohhh and if you go here, please try the Lychee infused jasmine iced tea.

Number 9, Vietnamese food

What I noticed most about America was the absolutely incredible service and attention to detail. They have that sorted. In New Zealand we dont tip and dont really think to, but LA hands down deserves it.
I cannot wait to return to these fave places – Ive been craving them since being back! xobec

Friday

Street art, Venice Beach Tangled vine, Forest Palm Springs streets

Good morning! WordPress has been a bit funny not letting me log in these past few days. But fiiinally I’m back on! Nelson – actually most of New Zealand – is experiencing the most crazy storm with lots of trees falling over – a chaotic wind!
In this weeks Friday post are few extra photos from my trip away to LA (if you missed it, you can read about it here). I love finding photos on my camera that I’d forgotten about!
Look at this beautiful photo below that mum took of Frankiiiiieeeeeee!

Frankie, puppy

This weeks…
Article: This is the best. A child’s innocent face seen from above.
Video: This video is awesome. It shows how the father of this girl took a photo of her everyday for 14 years then made it into a vid- such a cool idea!

I hope you all have an amazing Easter weekend full of goodies. If you haven’t yet entered my art print giveaway – read about it here =)

Snapshots from Los Angeles

Bec - Los Angeles street

Im baaack! From an incredible, hard, exciting, challenging and adventurous work trip to Los Angeles! We collected a huge amount of amazing furniture, packaged it all and soon it will be placed in the showroom where I work.
I learnt sooo much along the way and feel so privileged that, from a small town in New Zealand, I had the opportunity to travel overseas.
In this post are a few snapshots from the 2 weeks we were there…

Breakfass in America Breakfast - Abbot Kinney

Waaaay too many delicious breakfasts! I think I could almost start a blog on the food we found in LA – Im actually craving the above photo so much. One thing I really noticed was the food in LA; if youve been to Wholefoods you’ll know what I mean – I LOVE that place!

Graffiti Wall in a cafe - California Cacti - California    Venice Beach, California 2 Venice Beach, California

I had a few favourite spots that, if you’re visiting LA, I would recommend visiting…
♥ Venice Beach – walking along the beach at dusk you will see the footpath lined with performers, little random stalls and loud music. Its a very cool experience and is booming with atmosphere.

Long Beach, California

♥ Long Beach – I could totally live here! I loved the quirky and fun people, street food & second hand shopping/antique stores. We sat at a restaurant as the sun set and watched pelicans flying and diving into the water. Sooo cool!

Sunset - San Diego, California

♥ Ocean Beach, San Diego – there was a bit of a hippy vibe here, lots of surfers, loud music and crazy fun filled shops. There is also a pier that runs out inot the ocean and at sunset, the view is perfection.

Los Angeles city

Traveling is just waaaay too good for ones soul – you learn millions of things without even realising, your mind is opened to others lives and their cultures. The world is just so huge and is begging to be explored.
I love coming back home to family, friends and my own bed but I wouldnt give up experiences like this for anything.
Have you been to LA? Do you have any favourite spots? xobec
