Friday

Street art, Venice Beach Tangled vine, Forest Palm Springs streets

Good morning! WordPress has been a bit funny not letting me log in these past few days. But fiiinally I’m back on! Nelson – actually most of New Zealand – is experiencing the most crazy storm with lots of trees falling over – a chaotic wind!
In this weeks Friday post are few extra photos from my trip away to LA (if you missed it, you can read about it here). I love finding photos on my camera that I’d forgotten about!
Look at this beautiful photo below that mum took of Frankiiiiieeeeeee!

Frankie, puppy

Article: This is the best. A child’s innocent face seen from above.
Video: This video is awesome. It shows how the father of this girl took a photo of her everyday for 14 years then made it into a vid- such a cool idea!

Moon Image – Wall Feature

Giant photo print - feature wall

Some of you may recall a post I did over a year ago that was of a few photos of Super moon. I have been waiting for the right project, or spot in our home, to use one of the images. Here it is – in its perfect spot! I blew up the image to A0 poster size and had it printed onto satin finish photo paper.
Everytime I walk into our lounge, my heart jumps a little. What I absolutely LOVE about this image is that it is so raw. I took the photo on my old camera and never once retouched it on the computer. Thats the moon in all its glory – look at all those beautiful textures & markings. So incredible.
…just another wall feature idea for you all! Do you have any wall features you love at the moment? xobec

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with p5 preset

Good morning!
Another week filled with art, photography, work and walks on the beach with Frankie (whos going through a crazy chewing stage. At the moment the lounge is filled with ripped newspaper!).
Last night I went to the opening of a very exciting new venture happening in Nelson that I’m involved with – called the Little Beehive Co-Op. It includes a HUGE amount of creativity, artyness and a very cool space you’ll be able to visit if you’re in town…full post coming in the next few weeks!

Golden Hour

Flower weeds - golden hour Golden Hour - dried grass Hazlenut tree Macro - flower seeds Golden Hour - meadow

A few golden hour images taken last weekend. I was reading about the ‘golden hour’ and it said that more blue light is scattered at these times of the day, so if the sun is present, its light appears more reddish. There is less contrast so shadows and over exposure are minimal. It definitely is my favourite time to head out with my camera. I looove how this dried grass looks – those colours are beautiful!
When is your favourite time to take photos? xobec

Home Style Snapshots

Lac curtains + Brixton hat + Birdcage

While the big storm hit New Zealand today, I took the chance to take a few snap shots of our new home. At some point I will go through each room showing the before and after snaps… but for now I hope you enjoy checking out this little update =)

DSW Chairs + Sunflowers + Lace Curtains + Industrial Lighting Sunflowers

I absolutely LOVE DCW chairs so we paired them with our oak dining table. We also decided to add white industrial lighting to the dining/kitchen area. Styled with my faaaaave – sunflowers!

Mustard candles + lace curtains + Plants DIY Gold Towel Hooks

We wanted to have a wee bit of fun in the bathroom as the rest of the house has a lot of black & white. We used turquoise & gold to highlight a few features – above are some towel hooks which I found at the dump and spray painted gold. Spray painting old pieces is SUCH an amazing way to transform them.

DIY macrame planter Turquoise + Gold Bathroom Gold Frame + Wall Drawing by Bec Brown 1 Gold Frame + Wall Drawing by Bec Brown

I also tested out some macrame today – which ill share on the blog properly soon.
The other DIY I did in the bathroom is the artwork above. For this I drew straight onto the wall and spray painted an old gilt frame found at the dump. Cool huh? Its funny how drawing on the wall feels so…naughty! I guess thats from childhood (haha).
I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out this wee update. Mum and I are having soooo much fun doing up this house – a project we have always wanted to achieve together! xobec
