Over the next few days I’ll be sharing my mini road trip adventure of the top of the South Island. I was so lucky to have a few weeks off over Christmas to be able to do this!
First stop was on the west coast – a small town called Punakaiki, famous for its Pancake Rocks & blowholes. These limestone formations were formed 30 million years ago and are truly spectacular.
I was so taken by this place. The gorgeous little winding stone pathways, amazing rock formations with the sea crashing at their base and surrounded by New Zealand flax bushes & Nikau Palms. It was overcast with a light rain which made the whole experience more dramatic.
If you get the chance to visit here, I highly recommend taking this little walk along the coast. Breathtaking & beautiful.
