Years ago when I studied Graphic Design in Christchurch I lived in this beautiful big 2 storied, 7 bedroom villa with a group of friends. It was one of the best years of my life. Filled with adventures, creativity and millions of fun memories with some of my absolute best best buddies. After the Christchurch earthquake, this house was not liveable anymore and is now boarded up.
I try to make a special trip to drive past it if I’m ever in Christchurch – taking a moment to remember all the fun times had.
The last time I drove past, I decided it was time to draw it. I snapped a quick pic on my iPhone and went home to sketch. This is the result.
Drawing this has made me realise just how much homes mean to us all. That the 4 walls are filled with everyone’s history & memories.
Do you have a house in particular that you’ve lived in & filled with memories? I’d love to hear your story!
PS: This artwork is available as a fine art print here.
Welcome to the coolest new shop in Nelson – Little Beehive Co-Op!
I cant even begin to explain how thankful I am for this beautiful little space (and especially to the 2 wonder woman who went forth and created it. Sooo incredibly cool.
Little Beehive Co-Op is just that – a Co-Op. Its brought together by 20 creatives in Nelson who pay for their space in the Shop and display the work of artists, photographers, jewellery makers, ceramic artists and clothing designers.
Everything in the store is handcrafted by New Zealanders, in-particular Nelsonians.
I have a range of Clouds of Colour original drawings, prints, cards & stationery.
If you’d like to read more about it, theres a pretty cool article here, otherwise pop in to 123 Hardy Street, Nelson!
Its actually kind of funny how this art print came about – I was scouting quotes on Pinterest & read a ‘Follow your heart’ quote wrongly and thought it had said ‘Follow your art’. Dannnng thats clever! BOOM lightbulb moment – new print design. Follow your art with a floral heart – print now available on the Shop. And heres the result. Its everything I’m about. I love this piece so much that I went straight to the picture framers. If you need anything framed head to – The Framing Rooms, Collingwood Street, Nelson. They are just delightful!
This geometric lily is up on the shop today and available as an 8×10′ print.
Tomorrow I will be sharing my adventures in Christchurch from this past weekend – where we checked out the Ellerslie Flower Show. Happy March to you!
