For my bedroom I wanted to create a piece of art work in the same style as I usually do but LARGE! I wanted the piece to be simple, balanced & tie in with the colours in my room.
I stretched my own canvas on to an old window frame and sat in front of the piece until ideas started to form. As they formed, I put them on the canvas. This is what I created!
At first I didnt like it (as with most of my pieces) it has grown on me and now I loooove it. It makes my room feel so much bigger and waaaay more interesting. What I loved most about creating this was that I let anything happen. The image above displays part of the painting that has a cool story in how it was created – as I was drawing the geometric patterns a little bug landed where the paper plane shape now sits. A light bulb went off – the little bug should have a place on here! His wing shape was like a paper plane.
At some point I would like to screen print my own duvet cover & apply the same geometric patterns to it.
So my bedroom is almost complete! I also FINALLY found an old ladder to use as my bookshelf – yipeeeee!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend and cutesy Valentines Day xx
This new art print is available on the shop this morning.
Inspired by this photo I snapped last Spring – poppiesssss!
This weekend is all about unpacking boxes, finding places for all our stuff and trying to get some sort of routine into our new home. I already have soooo many DIY ideas! I am working on one at the moment which is perfect for a wee Valentines Day gift =) Have a lovely weekend friends!
This new pattern – birds & feathers – is now available as an art print and card on the Shop.
I am really enjoying drawing black & white designs at the moment.
I hope you all had a perfect weekend!
Good morning friends!
I have been working on this commision piece this week – a green bicycle + green doors. The idea/mood behind it was the feeling of having just been to the morning market to collect beautiful flowers (and eat a quick croissant & coffee!). I love the blue doors that the bike is leaning on (that was a last minute addition) – I think it really adds to the overall mood.
This artwork is available as an 8×10″ fine art print on Clouds of Colour Shop.
Have a lovely day!
I don’t know what it has been but for the past 6 weeks I have had a complete art block. I haven’t even been able to pick up a paintbrush! I’m blaming the fact that it’s summer and all I want to be doing is lying the sun, walking on the beach, berry picking and eating ice-creams. Lots of ice-creams.
But….FINALLY (and I wouldn’t usually push myself to do art) I did push myself. I sat up in bed with The Mentalist on and said go Bec go. And this is what I produced – black and white birds and floating feathers.
I am soooo pleased to have my art mojo back!
I’m now working on a series of black and white collections like this one. Sometimes it’s good to push yourself and sometimes its not. In this case – it was! Yay!
How do you get your creativity back if you ever have a block?
