Art Journal: Praying Mantis

Today’s Art Journal page was a bit of a creative outburst mixed with a bit of frustration that it wasnt turning out how I envisioned. Sometimes I push myself to be creative. And sometimes I’m just not feeling it. At those times, I’ve learnt its better to do something else like bake a cake or go for a walk. These Art Journal pages have been good for breaking down barriers of perfection and its nice to have it all on record.
What do you do to stay creative?xobec

  1. No, I swear, I’m not. But here in France so many “singers” cannot sing. It’s a shame. That happens only here, seriously. lol So, I should give it a shot. Just kidding.

  2. Hahaha you’re funny Miss Cha! :D Do you really sing? Sooo many talents!! xx

  3. Nice, Bec! :)
I hate that feeling you describe, when you want to be creative but it’s not the right time. Usually I just grab my guitar and play some music. It requires a different energy. I love to sing too.
But it’s better for me to stay away from the kitchen because I end up eating EVERYTHING. lol

  4. So beautiful! To stay inspired I just go outside. Even it’s it not with my notebook or camera, just getting outside and taking a walk around can really start to get me thinking, and I instantly want to get back inside to start creating something

  5. Thank you poppytump. I’m looking forward to it! It’s going to be sooo cold though!

  6. Wow! Thank you so much for sharing all the wonderful things you do. So cool :)

  7. Yipee! I cannot wait to check out what you produce. Thanks for stopping by :)

  8. Ok, I love this idea. I happen to collect different kinds of journals, but never know what to do with them creatively. It’s like Duh. Lol. Thanks for this great idea. I’m going to get started on my first art journal. You rock!

  9. You’ll be all inspired Bec after your little escape this weekend ! A different place, fresh photos and ideas …. I’m sure will get to itching to get out your pens and inks when you get back home ;-)

  10. I love mantes (mantises?), they are amazing! To stay creative… I’ve not mastered this, but I’m off to a good start! When I know I’m going to have time to create, I have a preemptive game I play… I begin, in my mind, to filter anything and everythng around me; I imagine I am seeing everything in black and white (which is closer to the truth than I like to admit), I imagine hearing everything as if I have cotton in my ears (and if I’m feeling especially distracted, I sometimes actually put cotton in my ears!), I avoid idle conversation (if it’s not going to be important tomorrow or for eternity, I just choose not to care)… after a few hours of this, I’m quiet and ready to get something done… or at least it helps me :) As a general rule, all the time, I tend to focus on nature, the sky, birds, the wind, insects, running water, I don’t watch the news, and generally don’t enjoy TV. that’s what i do :)
