My World

Bec BrownAbout Me 1I grew up in a small country town in the South Island of beautiful New Zealand. Childhood was playing on the beach, building huts, freedom and creativity. It was from a young age that my mum taught me to live my dream, be creative and most of all to be happy and love every moment of life. So here I am… About Me 3Family, Arlo, Painting, Design, DIY’s, Beach Picnics, Books, Music, Watercolour, Etsy, Blogging, Animals, Graphic Design, Photography, Soy Lattes, Flowers, Market Adventures, Thrifting and… Turning my dream into a reality; To have my own creative business and to love life as an artist.

Clouds of Colour blog is my journey, inspiration, loves, photos and business stories along the way. I hope you enjoy it!

In 2011 I was living in Sydney, Australia and through a friend, discovered the blog A Beautiful Mess. I started following her posts and found it so inspiring that she had started blogging and made a career from it. So my new years resolution began for 2012- to have a blog I updated every day and in the future have a full time job from my creativity. I fully focused on my goals, Etsy and blog ideas. I filled books and books with info on what I wanted to do…and took all of the A Beautiful Mess courses!
In March of 2012 my partner Arlo and I moved back to our hometown in beautiful New Zealand where I took a few months off from working, to get my Clouds of Colour Shop open! I now spend every breathe of life brainstorming, photographing and designing for my shop and blog. Life is creative…and Im loving every moment of it.

Clouds of Colour is where I vent my creativity, share art, design, inspiration, DIY’s and photography. I find it so satisfying being part of the blogging world and being able to share what I love and do with the world. There is no other place I could meet and make friends like I have on here. We share interests and feedback, its now very much a part of my life.
New Zealand is so easy to find inspiration in so if I’m ever stuck for ideas, I take my camera out into nature and usually come home with a heap of new blog post or art ideas. I also love to look at old fabric, embroidery and art books.

Here is a list of my favourite topics to blog about and their most popular posts!

  2. Bec, so glad you liked the “Sunrise” post on Paper, Mud and Me. As you can see, I’m not a professional photographer, but sometimes I just have to take a picture of it.
    Love your site.

  3. Greetings Bec,

We are CandleOwl Knits, a college student and her English grandmother who have formed a small knitting business. My grandmother taught me to knit herself, after she noticed that my local after-school care program had taught me wrong! I knit properly now, and she has been lovingly criticizing my work ever since.

In the past we have had buyers from the United States of America, France, and Australia, but we’re looking to become better known. As you probably know from being an Etsy seller yourself, it takes a great deal or networking to be found in the vast jungle of internet artisans.

Our products and information can be found on the links below. We would love to be featured by such a successful artist. I’ve been browsing your blog and shop, and I can see that you share our zeal for creativity, and capture the beauty of what surrounds you through your photographs.

We would be eternally grateful if you would check out our shop and offer a few critiques.

  11. Hi Bec, Thanks for the like on my poster, hope you downloaded it. It’s print quality. Just reading your intro made me want to go and sit in a field and paint. Send me a pic if you hang the picture. Col

  12. Thanks for dropping by my blog—I look forward to exploring yours. I’m a graphic designer, and I love seeing how other designers integrate that practice into all parts of their lives (DIY, photography, other art/design work, blogging, everyday life, the whole schmozzle) as you are obviously doing. Keep it up!

    • I agree, its fun seeing what other graphic designers get upto… Ive only studied graphic design and never actually worked in the industry, im not so keen on how fast paced it all is. Thanks so much for the awesome comment, Im going to explore your blog more now too! :)

  13. Thanks for visiting my blog “Eyes to Heart” and liking my post “Medieval Charm …” … To me your creativity is whimsical … reminds me of a friend in England who likes to indulge in this way. … New Zealand looks beautiful and is on my bucket list. … Thanks again for connecting … Be well, Dorothy :-)

  14. Thanks for your “like” on my blog. I would say that your graphic design talent is already well-developed–your about page is very well structured and a pleasure to navigate. Looks like you have what we in the USA call “chops” (talent and expertise!)–I think you will have little trouble turning your dream into reality. Good luck!

  15. Greetings. I see you “liked” my poetry and photo post. Thanks for visiting. Seeing the quality of your blog and your aesthetic sense, I’m honored that you “liked” it. Love your blog.
